Archery Club

Touring

We think this artwork is pretty nifty, don't you?

When we said that we were stepping things up we weren't kidding.

Archery Club have teamed up with Acclaim Magazine and are very proud to announce that turntablist-master, multiple-DMC champion and undoubtedly the most talented DJ you'll ever see in the flesh, CRAZE, will be coming back to Australia for a series of headline shows this May / June, along with Slow Roast Records label-mate, CODES.

"This guy's talent reminds everyone they must stay humble. I'm nothing compared to this dude." (Danny Daze)

For those not in the know, Craze, the Nicaragua-born and now bona-fide Miami royalty, is the only DJ to have won the highly coveted DMC World Championship not once... not twice... but three times (!)... All consecutively in fact, between 1998 and 2000. He also teamed up with the then fresh-faced teenager A-Trak, to form The Allies and win the Team Championship in 2000 & 2001. But wait, there's more... either side of a stint as Kanye West's official tour DJ, Craze continually reminded us of his world-class productions skills through successful releases on labels as diverse as Ninja Tunes, OM, Cartel Recordings and C.I.A, seamlessly moving between rap, hip-hop, d n b, Miami-bass, raw booty house and everything in between.

In 2010 Craze started the now inimitable Slow Roast Records imprint, a sub-label of Fools Gold and home to the likes of Kill the Noise, Klever and Senor Stereo. More recently his remixes for the likes of Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, Benny Benassi and Emalkay have showed us, once again, that genre wont define him - he's a visionary, a once-in-a-generation type-talent.

So what can you expect from a Craze set? Easy. Mind-blowing, unparalleled skill. You will find it impossible to stay still. Watch this.

"The Codes House EP was the best EP of 2011." (Dillon Francis)

Brooklyn-native Codes shot to fame last year on the back of his Codes House EP and remixes for Silver Medalion and Solidisco, both of which were crowned #1 on HypeM. Through his music, Codes is most definitely reaching back to the golden days of hip-hop and house music - it's a little cut n paste, a little production wizardy, a lot of love.

And here's the icing on the cake. Craze and Codes are about to release "Deeper," a liquid house explosion guaranteed to stand out from the rest of the year's Winter anthems. It's not out yet, but you can watch the official video here.

Full tour dates below... We can guarantee that this will be the most fun you've had in a long, long time.

First up... PERSEUS!

1. What is the your current "go-to" track in your sets?
"Love in Zanzibar"

2. My guilty pleasure / crowd-pleaser song is...
Haddaway - What Is Love or Robin S - Show Me Love

3. My favourite place to play in the world is...
Tied between Social Club, Paris and The Standard, NY

4. My dream collaboration would be with...
UB40 or Ace of Base

5. The current state of the music industry is...
In re-transformation. Halfway exactly... on the way back to bed after barfing, about to lie down with a cold compress and feel better in a metaphorical day.

6. What's #1 on your bucket list?
Have my picture taken upside-down from the viewpoint of another jet opposite mine while I look up at the camera, TOP GUN style.

7. My personality in 3 words -
Have a drink with me and find out ?

8. If you could have a superpower, what would you have?
The ability to turn images of savory food into real, by touch, like King Midas. Can't cook for any longer than 20 minutes, and eating out (kosher) all the time gets expensive.

9. I'd spend my last ever pay-check on...
A private audience with Luis Guzman and myself, re-enacting my favorite scenes from the Count of Monte Cristo

10. Which 5 people (dead or alive) would you invite to your dream dinner party? Who'd be cooking?
Michael Jackson (80's Mike), Eddie Murphy, Mike Tyson (80's Mike again), Dante Basco (Rufio from Hook) and Al Pacino (as Scarface). Dante's in the kitchen, I bet he'd know good food after eating on set of Hook back in the day. Childhood is formative.

"French duo BeatauCue have made their way in many a DJ’s playlist in recent months thanks to a blitz of remixes for the likes of Noob & Brodinski, Sound of Stereo and Solo. Their sound is easily recognizable: big booming kicks, tribal drums patterns and bouncy, demented synth leads." A-Trak

Let's get it straight from the outset. BeatauCue are by no means your run-of-the-mill Artist.

In 2009, at only 18, Alexis and Mederic enjoyed a meteoric rise from bedroom producers to the name on everyone's lips via some devilish re-workings of Major Lazer's monster hit Pon De Floor and Brodinski & Noob's Turbo-charged techno bomb Peanuts Club.

With the buzz hot and the productions even hotter, it's no surprise that the big boys came knocking. And by big boys we mean none other than inimitable industry-leaders Kitsune. In recent times we have been  treated to three bombastic releases - the evil Cha Cha Cha, which teleports you to an underground Parisian dungeon circa 4am, the uplifting Disque Oh! that rivaled SebastiAn's Embody as standout French electronic single of 2011, and more recently, the heaving dancefloor-destroyer Falcon Punch. A body of work that has left Kitsune with only one conclusion: "there is no age for talent."

Add to this a repertoire of remixing credits that include acts as diverse as Kylie Minogue, Two Door Cinema Club, Boys Noize, The Subs, Adrian Lux and the mercurial Armand Van Helden, and it's no wonder the duo are among some of the most in-demand and prolific producers in Europe.

So what would an ideal BeatauCue track involve? According to the boys... "Let's say Deadmau5 for the sound, Sébastien Léger for the groove, Eric Prydz for the harmony & Diplo for the wicked/stupidness/whatever!!" (Don't Stay In).

Archery Club are proud to bring you five club shows from BeatauCue this April, in support of the indie-dance weapon Kiho (as featured on Kitsune Parisien II) and the forthcoming Slow Down (feat. Kenzie May, released April 9th), which not only shows off a dangerously astute pop sensibility, but we predict, will end up on many a "2012 Best Of" List.

Stay tuned for the full tour details tomorrow !!!!
"Disco never dies, but the crowd pleasing nu-disco sound of the past three years has officially been silenced as 2011's balls dropped."

Leon Oziel has always had a great eye for talent. During his days as a reviewer for Discodust, he helped spotlight the likes of Ellie Goulding, Disclosure and some duo called umm, errrr... Azari & III! So it comes as no surprise that three years on Oziel is not only the head-honcho of tastemaker imprint FRENCH EXPRESS (home to the likes of Moon Boots, Chris Malinchak, Jonas Rathsman), but also universally famous for his exploits as future-house and tropical-disco wizard PERSEUS.

Bursting into our consciousness (and every worthy blog) in early 2011 via a mesmerizing re-take of Jeremy Glenn's New Life (Future Classic), Perseus went on to re-craft the Mark Ronson smash Record Collection. It sounds like Mark was pretty happy with his effort...

@iamMarkRonson: this @perseus remix of "record collection" is so beautiful, i could cry. art of noise meets loose ends.

Going from strength to strength, Perseus celebrated the new year by giving away the delicious Russian Girlfriends EP... with a gargantuan response. Cool Runnings, Russian Girlfriends and the Ashanti-sampling Running Back To You, having been previously premiered on The Magician's Magic Tapes (#15, #17, #18), have between them notched up a lazy 60,000 plays... and counting.

Perseus, who last week proclaimed "it's a very healthy time for music" (Dazed), will embark on his first ever voyage 'down-under' and be performing headline shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney this Autumn.
